Germany

This European Championship will be hosted by Germany for the second time in history and for the first time since the reunion of the country in 1990. The national side qualified as hosts. Germany have qualified for the final stages of the European Championships on 14 occasions, playing the final games on 6 occasions and winning the title thrice. The previous edition of the tournament wasn’t really successful for Germany, though. They were eliminated in the Round of 16. The side has played two friendly games this June: Ukraine (0:0) and Greece (2:1).

Julian Nagelsmann replaced Hans-Dieter Flick as head coach in 2023. This was Nagelsmann who convinced Toni Kroos to get back to the national side after a 3-year break. Euro 2024 will be the last tournament of this kind in his career.

  • Both teams have scored in 9 out of the last 10 official games Germany has played. Both teams to score – 5/4

  • A maximum of three goals have been scored in regular time in 9 out of the last 11 games Germany has played in the tournament. Under  3.5 – 2/5

  • Germany have scored a maximum of two goals in 9 out of the last 11 games they’ve played in the European Championship. Germany Under 2.5 – 3/5

Scotland

Scotland confidently qualified for Euro 2024. They lost only 1 game out of 8 they played in the group stage. They directly advanced to the final stage of a big tournament for the first time since 1998. This is going to be the fourth participation in the tournament for the national side, second in a row. However, they have never been able to reach a knockout stage. Scotland has recently played two friendly games: Gibraltar (2:0) and Finland (2:2).

  • Scotland haven’t lost 11 out of the last 12 official games (8 wins, 3 draws). Scotland to win or a draw – 51/20

  • Scotland have scored at least two goals in 7 out of the last 8 official games. Scotland Over 1.5 – 9/2

  • At least three goals have been scored in 9 out of the last 13 official games Scotland have played. Over 2.5 – 7/10

Germany vs Scotland Prediction

The Euro 2024 opening match will be the first official one for Julian Nagelsmann. The tournament Germany host is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate everything the side is capable of. No doubt Germany will do their best.

Besides, the national side has kind of awakened after Flick left. Germany have played 9 friendly games since that moment, scoring at least twice in 7 of them. Scotland are active too. They scored at least 2 goals in 7 out of their 8 Euro qualifying games.

Most likely the opponents keep on this way in this game too. Germany will play aggressively in front of their fans. Scotland wouldn’t like to be a victim. It’s going to be a double-edged game.

The prediction is Both teams to score at 6/5 .

Betting tips 14 Jun 2024

Germany missed the qualifying tournament as they host Euro 2024. After Nagelsmann replaced Flick as head coach, Germany have improved in 2024. They’ve won France (2:0), Netherlands (2:1) and Greece (2:1) and ended their game versus Ukraine in a draw (0:0). Kroos is back to the squad and this is a huge advantage. He will retire after the home tournament, but now he will contribute a lot to the way the team will play in the middle of the field. Havertz is likely to play in the centre of attacking actions. He was good in the second half of the season in Arsenal, although Füllkrug is in perfect form too.

Scotland performed perfectly in their qualifying group along with Spain and Norway. The Scottish side let Spain top the group only at the very end of the campaign. Scotland approach their fourth continental tournament with poor results, though. They lost the friendly games played in March against the Netherlands (0:4) and Northern Ireland (0:1). In June, Scotland have some problems to score a goal, even playing against quite weak teams like Gibraltar (2:0) and Finland (2:2).

This will be the opening game. Germany are obviously the favourites of the game. Scotland have Manchester United’s midfielder McTominay (7 goals scored in the qualification tournament). However, Germany will do anything to neutralise this threat. Germany will start this tournament with a confident win.
